The game sold more in its first week than any of its predecessors and allowed the franchise to experience its best fiscal year since 2012/2013. Fast forward to nearly a year after it was released and Ubisoft continues to pump content out for it. Following the relatively lackluster Wrath of the Druids DLC, fans are now looking forward to the next expansion for Valhalla, which is The Siege of Paris. However, after confirming a release window at E3 2021, Ubisoft has stayed relatively quiet. Although the studio still hasn’t confirmed the exact release date, Xbox might have just leaked it by accident.
When is The Siege of Paris release date?
The accidental leak was spotted by @CriptAssassini and later reposted on Reddit. At the moment, the listing on the Xbox store page is no longer available. However, according to the screenshot, the second story expansion for Valhalla, The Siege of Paris, will arrive on August 5. Unfortunately, this leak might not be final yet. CriptAssassINI notes that the August 5 listing might be a placeholder date. This means that the expansion might arrive earlier or later than August 5, which is a bummer. Then again, the trophy list for the DLC has also been leaked, so it might be correct. On the bright side, delays shouldn’t surprise anyone anymore. Partly because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Ubisoft has constantly pushed back its release dates for the planned DLCs for Valhalla. In any case, we should receive more info about the next Valhalla DLC soon enough. Ubisoft intends to roll out a new update for the game on July 27.
What’s next for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla?
In case you didn’t know, the expansions for Valhalla will not end with The Siege of Paris. As confirmed by Ubisoft’s earlier announcement, the studio will continue supporting Valhalla well beyond its first year. This is a first for the franchise, albeit not one that should be all too surprising if you’ve been keeping up with the latest rumors. Since earlier this year, a reputable french leaker has talked about how Valhalla is going to have more DLCs beyond what was initially announced. A few months before Ubisoft confirmed this, the leaker revealed that the third DLC will be set in Muspelheim. This was later “confirmed” by Ubisoft. Soon after, the leaker appeared to backtrack on their earlier statement, adding that Muspelheim will be the setting for the fourth DLC and that the third DLC will be set in Zvarthalheim. Just note that all of these are mere speculations with no official announcements yet. Of course, considering the reputation of the leaker, there might be a hint of truth behind everything that he has uncovered from the game’s files. We’ll need to wait and see.
