Black Adam is just the beginning
Compared to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the DC Extended Universe isn’t as well-planned or interconnected. Outside of Zack Snyder’s films, there’s very little continuity between the DCEU’s slate of movies. To make matters worse, there has even been talks that Warner Bros. wants to erase Snyder’s films from canon, albeit The Flash star Ezra Miller has since debunked this. With that said, Black Adam could help with negated some change. In an interview with Collider, Garcia revealed that Black Adam was never “just a one-off movie”. He added that there is an “outline in our head on an imaginary white board of how we’d want to do it.” Furthermore, he revealed that the studio already has a vision of what they’d like to do “in a multiple picture aspect when it comes to Black Adam” as well as the film’s version of the Justice League, which is the Justice Society of America. Garcia also revealed in the same interview that the studio is working on a Black Adam spinoff but he refused to reveal anything else about who’s going to star in it and how it fits in the DCEU. Of course, as ambitious as Garcia is, he did clarify their goal is for “fans to like it”. However, the producer did share some encouraging news about the movie’s director’s cut. He described it as “entertaining and good” even if it is still “so fresh after filming”. He adds that seeing the director’s cut of Black Adam makes the studio confident as he commended the film’s director, Jaume Collet-Sera, for doing such a great job. Johnson’s upcoming DCEU debut has been in development for more than a decade with Johnson signing on to play the titular anti-hero since 2014. For several years, the film’s production and development hit one problem after another. Coincidentally, it wasn’t until around the COVID-19 pandemic hit that things started progressing well. For most of 2021, Johnson was more than happy to reveal more information about Black Adam, such as his full costume and how he thinks that Black Adam could beat Superman in a fight. In other The Rock news, Johnson just outdid everyone on Christmas by gifting his mom a car. The Hollywood superstar also declined Vin Diesel’s earlier offer to go back and reprise his role as Luke Hobbs in the last two Fast and Furious films.
