Disney deployed Ewan McGregor for the latest “transmission”, as the Star Wars actor broke the bad news that Obi-Wan Kenobi won’t start streaming on Disney+ until May 27. Also, while the first two episodes will drop on a Friday, the rest are going to premiere every Wednesday going forward until the finale on June 22.
— Obi-Wan Kenobi (@obiwankenobi) March 31, 2022 The Obi-Wan Kenobi show will bring back McGregor in his iconic role as the self-titled Jedi Master. As confirmed by the earlier trailers, the upcoming Star Wars series will pick up after the events of 2005’s Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, following Kenobi as he tries to hide his presence from the Galactic Empire, specifically, the Grand Inquisitor. Speaking of, Obi-Wan Kenobi will mark the first live-action appearance of the said high-ranking Galactic Empire officials who made their debut in animated Star Wars shows. With two episodes dropping on its first day of streaming, Disney just gave audiences another reason to come flocking to watch Obi-Wan. Unfortunately, Disney+ will have to contend with another sci-fi giant in the form of Stranger Things Season 4, which will also release on the same day. What’s interesting with Obi-Wan Kenobi’s temporary Friday release before going back to Wednesdays, as per Lucasfilm, it that it will coincide with a new episode of Ms. Marvel. Kamala Khan’s MCU debut will be on June 8, the same day that Obi-Wan Kenobi’s fourth episode will arrive on Disney+. The House of Mouse did not reveal the reason for the two-day delay, which is especially surprising since the original schedule on May 25 was a special day for Star Wars fans. May 25, 2022, marks the 45th anniversary of 1977’s Star Wars: A New Hope, the first film in George Lucas’ franchise that started the entire thing. Speaking of Star Wars, Quantic Dream denied the earlier reports that it was delaying Star Wars: Eclipse to 2027 because, technically, you can’t delay a game that you won’t know when it will come out. In addition, there are reports that Respawn Entertainment will make Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2 official in May, possibly on May 4, universally known as Star Wars day.
