Is RalphsValve’s GTA IV remastered leak credible?
According to @RalphsValve on Twitter, a GTA IV remaster is coming in 2023. However, while RalphsValve is the first public figure to make such a statement in a while, there is an earlier leak that was posted on 4chan. What’s even more interesting is that the 4chan leak contains details of remastered versions of multiple Rockstar Games titles - yes, not just Grand Theft Auto IV. The 4chan post claims that a remaster of 2010’s Red Dead Redemption is coming in Q2 2023. Meanwhile, the remastered version of GTA IV is reportedly coming in Q4 later the same year. It also confirms that GTA VI is planned for a 2025 release, with the GTA Trilogy remastered bundle as well as the aforementioned remasters planned to “hold off fans until 2024/2025”. What’s interesting in the post is how much more effort Rockstar is putting to remaster GTA IV compared to RDR and even the classic PS2 GTA titles. According to the 4chan leak, Rockstar has “majorly overhauled” the graphics of GTA IV to “resemble GTA V graphics mixed with RDR2 clouds and weather system”. It also adds that Liberty City will feel more alive with “more NPCs and vehicles density”. Finally, the post claims that the remastered version of GTA IV will have “3 easter eggs directly linked to GTA VI.” Of course, as this is all unconfirmed information, it’s best to take everything that you just read with a grain of salt. Having said that, we could have said the same about GTA Trilogy earlier this year until the listings and ratings started popping up. When you consider that it makes perfect sense for Rockstar to revisit older titles, if only to give audiences something to play until GTA VI’s eventual release, the least one can do is to believe that Rockstar is working on multiple remasters at the moment. Speaking of Rockstar, another leaker claims that Nintendo and Rockstar are working together to port RAGE over to the Nintendo Switch. If this is true, then more Rockstar Games could be coming to Nintendo’s portable console.
