The event promises to showcase more than 100 games, including debut trailers and gameplay footage of highly anticipated titles such as Second Extinction and STALKER 2.
What to Expect from the Indie Showcase
The Indie Showcase will shine the proverbial light towards little-known game developers that don’t have as big of a marketing budget as the other companies. It will include a number of developers and publishers who will use the platform to announce their new games if not provide updates for games they’ve already announced. Among the studios and developers who will take the proverbial stage include DrinkBox Studios (Guacamelee!) and Devolver Digital (Serious Sam) and many more. Microsoft also dropped a number of names of the games that audiences can expect to make their gameplay trailer debuts at the said showcase. This includes Second Extinction, The Wild at Heart, The Ascent, Voidtrain, Exo One, and as already mentioned earlier, STALKER 2. In addition to letting indie developers and publishers announce and preview their titles, Microsoft will also use this opportunity to highlight the other indie titles already available on their Xbox Game Pass. They’ll also use this time to talk about other titles that are expected to come to their online video game subscription service. As a bonus, the event will feature a number of Twitch streamers playing as hosts. It will also include interviews with developers and publishers. As always, you can expect other segments like giveaways and Q&A portions. The Indie Showcase will stream live starting on March 26 at 11:00 AM CT via Twitch Gaming and official Xbox Twitch channels.
Everybody Gets a Showcase
The Indie Game Showcase on March 26 will serve as the fourth confirmed game showcase for March alone. and will follow the Future Games Show Spring Showcase on March 25. Not that we’re complaining though. Square Enix, for example, recently concluded their first-ever Square Enix Presents. Although any mention of a Final Fantasy game was notably absent from the event, it did give gamers a lot of things to get excited about. This includes the upcoming Outriders title, the Tomb Raider Definitive Survivor Trilogy compilation, and Life is Strange: True Colors. Microsoft themselves has a busy schedule in the weeks ahead. In addition to the Indie Showcase, Microsoft also has other online events lined up. This includes a special Age of Empires event for April 10. Plus, outside of events, Microsoft’s been busy beefing up the Xbox Game Pass library. Recently, they’ve added EA Play for PC gamers, Outriders, Bethesda titles, and so much more. With that said, we should expect these showcases to be more of a norm going forward.
