Earlier this year, we learned that Chris Pratt’s Super Mario Bros. movie is finally coming soon. At the same time, we also found out that Rogen was going to voice Donkey Kong. But, as it turns out, Nintendo also has more plans for Rogen. Rogen isn’t just going to join Super Mario Bros. as a side character, he’s also going to reprise the same role in a solo movie for the iconic Nintendo character.
Is Rogen’s upcoming Donkey Kong movie confirmed?
Just when you thought that things couldn’t get any weirder, Giant Freakin Robot has gone ahead and confirmed that Rogen is working on a solo Donkey Kong movie. According to GFR, Illumination is currently working on the upcoming Donkey Kong film. This is the same studio behind Despicable Me and the Minions, so you know that the project has some serious financial backing behind it. Of course, Nintendo nor Illumination has confirmed the news and so, as always, it’s best to take what you just read with a grain of salt. With that said, Giant Freakin Robot has a good track record of leaking credible information. Previously, GFR leaked info on a Dishonored TV show and a Dragon Age Netflix series. If nothing else, it’s worth listening to what GFR has to say. Of course, even if Rogen’s Donkey Kong movie is in the works, there’s no guarantee that it’s going to arrive at all. Films can and do get canceled all the time. Nintendo might use Chris Pratt’s upcoming Mario movie to see if the market is ready for a Donkey Kong film. With the Super Mario Bros. movie set to premiere on December 21, 2022, it appears that audiences will have to wait until then or after to find out if Rogen’s Donkey Kong movie is true.
