The official trailer for Across the Spider-Verse brings back Hailee Steinfeld’s Gwen Stacy, as she pulls Shameik Moore’s Miles Morales in for what’s shaping up to be a hell of a time. The first-half of the trailer takes on a lighter tone as the duo meets a laundry list of spider-people, including fan favorites like the Spider-Man from Insomniac Games’ PlayStation-exclusive title, Issa Rae’s Spider-Woman, and of course, Oscar Isaac’s Spider-Man 2099 as well as the more obscure ones like the Bombastic Bag-Man and more.

The latter half shows us that Miles’ experience this time around will be the exact opposite of what it was in the original film. It’s not really explained why but that’s also the genius of the trailer. Sony Pictures Entertainment gave us just enough cameos and appearances to make us want to know more about what’s going on, only to shut the theater doors on us. It’s an effective way to get us all hyped for the film’s premiere next year. We’ll find out more about why the Spider-Verse just ostracized Miles Morales and how the Spot plays a role in all of this when Across the Spider-Verse swings straight into theaters on June 2 followed by the threequel, Beyond the Spider-Verse, on March 29, 2024. Speaking of Spider-Man, Tom Holland’s fourth solo film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is reportedly being fast-tracked. Sources suggest that Tom Hardy’s Venom will play a role in Spider-Man 4. Venom 3 is Tom Hardy’s last time as Venom and isn’t expected to premiere until late 2024.
