The first official Black Adam poster shows the titular anti-hero, who will be played by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, sporting the Kahndaq royalty’s iconic black suit along with a dimly lit lightning bolt on the chest, perhaps signifying that he is no longer the Champion of Shazam!. The poster is also setting the stage for the character’s inverted take on justice. The tagline reads, “The world needed a hero. It got Black Adam.”
It got Black Adam
World premiere trailer of #BlackAdam⚡️ drops TOMORROW. Hierarchy of power in the DC Universe will change. #ManInBlack@SevenBucksProd@WBPictures@DCComics pic.twitter.com/Df8qsfX95l — Dwayne Johnson (@TheRock) June 7, 2022 Much has been said about Black Adam getting to this point, and it deserves nothing but all the praise in the world. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has lobbied hard for the Black Adam movie since 2007. But, it wasn’t just because of his “unusual” premise for a starring role in a film that made getting a Black Adam project off the ground. The DCEU also had to work out how to integrate Black Adam into the cinematic universe. After all, Black Adam is a former champion of Shazam! and Shazam! exists in the DCEU. Thankfully, the Johnson-led project is finally close to hitting the big screen. It also doesn’t hurt that Johnson is the most enthusiastic that we’ve seen him in years. While Johnson has mentioned several times as to how the antihero “speaks” to his DNA, it’s still amazing to see him put his money where his mouth is. From behind-the-scenes photos to reshoots and sharing when the first trailer will come out, Johnson’s excitement for Black Adam is infectious, to say the least. We’ll find out more if Black Adam is worth all the hype when it hits theaters on October 21. Speaking of the DCEU, Warner Bros. Discovery has several comic book films slated to come out this year and in 2023, including Shazam! Fury of the Gods, Batgirl, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, as well as The Flash.
