“Black Adam’s greatest superpower is magic”, says The Rock
The first footage of Black Adam premiered at DC FanDome 2021, which drew praise and generated tons of discussion online. Naturally, The Rock got in on that. Just as someone noted that Superman is the only one that can stop Black Adam, the Hollywood actor was quick to remind everyone that “Superman’s greatest weakness isn’t kryptonite, it’s magic.” He later explained that both are “unstoppable forces” before saying that “only one will kill the other”, alluding that it’s Black Adam who will kill Superman and not the other way around.
— Dwayne Johnson (@TheRock) October 17, 2021 This isn’t the first time that The Rock has talked about Black Adam beating Superman. It’s not like Johnson’s talking nonsense either. Superman’s weakness against magic is no secret. Technically, he is not weak to it. Rather, he just isn’t impervious to magic like he is with pretty much everything else. Not to mention, comic book fans know how several storylines have put Superman’s apparent “softness” front and center. On the other hand, Black Adam is a ruthless dictator who is also Shazam’s greatest enemy. In his first on-screen teaser, Black Adam takes no time making his presence known. He not only showcases his power, but he kills a handful of soldiers while doing so, brutally if we might add. It’s clear that Johnson’s Black Adam isn’t going to deviate much from the source material, and we’re all for it. With that said, now that Black Adam is officially set to arrive in the DCEU, Warner Bros. could make this hypothetical megafight happen on the big screen. But, for that to happen, the studio needs to get its affairs sorted out first. Sure, we’re getting new Aquaman and The Flash films. However, we’ve heard very little about Henry Cavill’s superhero in recent years. He and Superman were no shows at DC FanDome 2021, which doesn’t bode well for anyone hoping to see any updates regarding the Man of Steel. If it’s any consolation, money does tend to solve everything. If Warner Bros’ upcoming slate of DCEU movies does well, Warner Bros. might consider circling back to Zack Snyder’s original vision for the DCEU albeit with a few additional tweaks.
