Arguably the biggest highlights are the following:
A third-person playlist 3v3 Raid mode Special Ops Gunsmith A new and improved Ricochet anti-cheat system
“Third person playlists” offer a unique “tactical way to play multiplayer.” Players can use the third-person perspective to get a better vision of their surroundings. This could change how fans play Call of Duty. Meanwhile, “Raid” is a 3v3 mode that emphasizes coordination and communication. Unfortunately, Raid won’t be available at launch. Instead, it’s coming later, before the year ends, so we’ll likely find out more about it before then. Finally, a third mode is Special Ops, a revamped version of the classic two-player co-op mode of the same name. Unfortunately, IW didn’t elaborate on what kind of changes are coming to Special Ops outside of it featuring “large-scale hot zones”. Hopefully, Infinity has learned a lot from the version in Modern Warfare. On top of the new modes, Modern Warfare 2 will have a much better Gunsmith. This is the game’s weapon customization system. Infinity claims the improvement will pave the way for “unprecedented opportunities for customization,” which includes a better interface to make swapping between weapons much smoother. Finally, Activision expressed confidence in the new Ricochet anti-cheat system. According to the publisher, it’s using a new and unified security platform that will make it easier to apply frequent updates to the system. If you’d like to find out more about Modern Warfare 2, be sure to join the open beta. Those who are looking forward to the single-player experience will have to wait until Modern Warfare 2 is out on October 28. You can also pre-order Modern Warfare 2 if you’d like early access to the Modern Warfare 2 single-player campaign.
